Finally, Audi A1 has been officially launched in Malaysia. Thanks to sole distributor, EuroMobil Sdn. Bhd. This 2 doors compact coupe is powered by 1.4L TFSI 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine with direct fuel injection and exhaust gas turbocharging. This rr wheel drive car has a maximum output is 122bhp at 5,000rpm and maximum torque of 200Nm in the range of 1,500 ~ 4,000rpm. This model is equipped with 7 speed S-tronic transmission.
As for the design, it is very stylish at the front with the strong character of front bumper grille, make it look sporty. Chroming finishing to the bumper grille outer and fog lamp bezel, make it looks like a sport car with a touch of luxury.
As for the rear exterior, it is match with the sporty looks at the front. However, side view of the car looks a little bit weird. It looks like this car should have the rear door panels too. Or, the front door panels (LH/RH) should be extend furthermore to the back. It also can be a better packaging because it provide good ingress/egress of the passenger at the back. What do you think? However, at the end, it is not possible due to investment cost. Normally, this kind of model also has the 4 door version which carry the same front door panels. It is just not for Malaysian spec?
About the performance, the car can acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 sec with top-speed of 203 km/h. Fuel Consumption is at 5.3 litre/100km as declared.
From safety aspect, it comes with 6 SRS airbags, ISOFIX for child car seat and ESP system which consists of BA, EBD, ABS and Traction Control.
It also use xenon plus headlights with daytime running lights combined with LED rear combi lamp. For less control, it is equipped with RLS which is a nice-to-have item during rainy day. For lady driver, good news is the car has rear parking aid sensor.
With utilization of Body Control Module (BCM), Home Coming Light also being programmed.
