F1 Japanese GP Suzuka 2011: Button 1st place, but Vettel win this season again

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, youngest double world champion roared into the record books on Sunday after finishing third. 1st podium stage won by McLaren's driver,  Jenson Button. Vettel, a 24-year-old German, who had started from pole position for the 12th time this season, had needed only a point at Suzuka to protect his second successive crown with four races to spare for 2011 season.
"Thank you so much, every single one,"
said Vettel, his voice trembling with emotion as he choked back the tears behind his visor, over the team radio after being told he is already 2011 world champion. "We took nothing for granted and we did it." said the team spokesman furthermore.
Sebastian Vettel, congratulated by both Jenson Button and previous young season winner of 2006.
"To win the championship here is fantastic. So many things you want to say in this moment but it's hard to remember all of them," he added. "There are so many people, it's hard to name them all to thank them." A safety car incident triggered by another coming together between McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Felipe Massa, as well as a contact between Red Bull's Mark Webber and Mercedes' Michael Schumacher, bunched up the field for three laps while marshals retrieved debris. Button kept his lead and took the chequered flag for what he considers a second home race, thanks to his Japanese girlfriend and long-standing passion for the country, just 1.1 seconds over Alonso.
"It was a great race, the start was very good -- maybe too good and I ended up on the grass,"
grinned Button, ecstatic at his third win of the season and 12th of his career.
"It's always a very special place to race, Suzuka. This is one of the most perfect places to race and the crowd are very special. It's one of our most special victories, it means a lot to me,"
added the Briton, who had written off his own title chances long ago.

Button and Alonso both overtook Hamilton’s McLaren before he could reach the pits for new rubber on lap eight. After exiting the pitlane, Hamilton was running fourth – with Massa now on his tail. The pair later collided and the safety car was deployed to allow debris to be cleared from the track at Turn 7.

After the safety car period, Hamilton complained: “I’ve got massive understeer. My wing must be busted.” However, he was told by the pitwall: “We’ve looked at the data and the pictures and everything looks okay.” Now down in sixth place, Hamilton chased down Massa and eventually made a clean pass on the Ferrari driver. He eventually crossed the line fifth and will be looking for a better performance next Sunday in the 2011 Korean Grand Prix.
As for our own Malaysian backed-up teams, both are not doing well enough this time. Lotus-Renault ended at position 9th and 16th, while TeamLotus ended up at 18th and 19th position.
