These few years, we have seen many small compact SUV like JukeBox, X1, Mini Crossover and so on. Now, it's time to have big, better seating capacity and roomy body-on-frame luxury SUVs. Family oriented buyer who visited showrooms for large SUV with driving dynamics have been out of luck, until now.

Infiniti America's vice president Ben Poore says that three-row crossovers are one of the hottest segments in the luxury market. So by spring 2012, Infiniti to launch its seven-seater (three-row) JX crossover. The brand just debuted concept version of this luxury SUV at the Pebble Beach Weekend in California.

Infiniti says the JX will offer class-leading roominess. And, JX will pioneer a new technology called Backup Collision Intervention for Infiniti. The carmaker says that if the system detects objects crossing the car's path, it will brake automatically.

Under the hood, the JX will pair a V6 engine with CVT drivetrain. And power to be distributed to either the front wheels or all four.

Wait for the production JX at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

What was called the Vertrek Concept at auto shows should roll off the assembly line in Louisville, USA next spring as the next Ford Escape.

The current Escape is ancient, going without a design overhaul to its boxy body since 2001. Whatever can be saved from the Vertrek Concept will be, and it's safe to say that the next Escape is going to get a carlike ride more fitting for the dogfight in the crowded five-passenger crossover segment. Likely to be roomier and more refined, the new Escape should also get the 180-hp, 1.6óliter four-cylinder EcoBoost motor that's already deployed in a few models in Europe and is set to spread to production in the U.S.

The Evoque will go on sale this summer in most of the world, but Malaysian buyers normally will have to wait for additional months. It might be around fourth quarter 2011.  But, you can get it faster if you arrange it directly from Great Britain.
Additional info, Land Rover already started its campaign for Evoque at Pavillion which showed illuminating wireframe model of Evoque. Few bookings also have been placed during the event.

Buyer in Malaysia can choose two variants which are 2.0L turbocharged gasoline twin VVT and 2.2L diesel.

The "terrain response" system that's integrated so nicely in the Ford Explorer will be stock here, as will AWD. In Europe there'll be diesel options and (the horror!) FWD-only editions. The Evoque marks Land Rover's need to get both more eco- and more tarmac-focused, so expect a vehicle that handles more like a sports sedan than a tank. Land Rover will offer a magnetically controlled damper setup, but only one transmission: a six-speed automatic. This crossover will come with a choice of three or five doors; both configurations seat five.

Expect pricing to start around $45,000 in the US. Price in Malaysia will be around the same price of current Freelander, RM271,388.
