BMW North America is recalling certain vehicles from the 2008 through 2011 model years to correct a possible problem with overheating circuit boards that could cause fires.
In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the car maker said the recall affects a total of 32,084 vehicles including 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and X5 and X6 sport utility vehicles. The models involved have eight- or 12-cylinder turbocharged engines.
In these vehicles, the company said, a circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump can overheat. This can lead to a fire in the engine compartment. Under the recall, BMWsaid its dealers will replace the auxiliary water pump free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during november.

GM is recalling certain model year 2012 Buick Lacrosse passenger vehicles manufactured from June 9, 2011 through July 2, 2011 for failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 125, “Electronic Stability Control Systems (ECS).” The stabilitrak system has an incorrect calibration that may cause the system to not properly detect if a sensor were to malfunction, and the warning light indicating that the system is not operating would not illuminate, as required in the Safety Standard.
Consequence: A malfunctioning sensor may cause the ESC to falsely activate, resulting in sudden changes in vehicle handling and deceleration, which may cause loss of control, and could result in a crash without warning.
Remedy: GM Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module free of charge. The Safety Recall is expected to begin during August 2011. Owners may contact Buick at 866-608-8080.
Notes: GM’s Safety Recall Number is 11222. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Another recall from Japanese automaker.
Mazda is recalling its Mazda 6 model due to a unique problem occurred by spider. As Mazda spokesman Jeremy Barnes said, "Perhaps yellow sac spiders like to go zoom-zoom?" While the spider problem sounds silly, Barnes said it can be dangerous.
It is not sure whether Mazda 6 in South East Asia region (including Malaysia) to be recalled soon or not but Mazda spokesman said that since the problem wasn't restricted to a particular geographic region, Mazda thought it best to recall all its affected vehicles in areas where the yellow sac spider lives. Do we have those in Malaysia?
Mftg. date: 2008-2010
Region : U.S., Mexico & Canada (yellow sac spider region)
Reason : Web & nest from spider in fuel tank can cause blockage which leads to fuel leakage and catch fire.

It is not a shocking news due to some reasons.
#1 Major Japanese auto company are recalling their models these past years especially in the US.
#2 It comes two weeks after Honda spokesman said it was recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles globally due to defective parts that could stall the engine and cause problems restarting in certain models.
As of now, the recall announcement has been made for Civic Hybrid models (37,000 units) in US. Those models in South East Asia also might have been recalled soon.
More recall detail:
Model : Honda Civic Hybrid
Mftg. date: 2006-2007
Region : U.S., Japan, & other countries
Reason : Voltage converter possible failure (might cause engine start problem and headlight fail)
Hybrid drive train is quite new to customer and I guess nobody really sure what/where the voltage converter is..
There also no technical info (I don't think there will be one) from Honda about how the part problem can cause the engine start problem, headlight fail etc. But, as we know a voltage converter changes the voltage of an electrical power source to power supply. A voltage converter problem might lead to an unstable voltage which later on might cause other electronically controlled part to fail.
